OKTOBERFEST AND RE-DEDICATION OF MOERBE HALL, OCTOBER 4, 2009 Members and friends of Zion celebrated a truly historic event at Zion, October 4, 2009. After passing our 162nd year of existence, we were able to complete the total refurbishing of our Fellowship Hall, also built in 1871, after the damages of Katrina. Initially after the storm, our brothers and sisters in Christ from the Indiana District of the LCMS, under the direction of Mr. Tyrone Rombach, re-did the 2nd floor of the building, turning it into a lovely apartment and naming it “Luther Haus”. From there, Mr. Tyrone Rombach virtually single-handedly redid and upgraded the main fellowship area and the kitchen, including two restroom facilities. Please see the article about this dedicated member of our congregation, as well as the article on the history of Moerbe Hall. We celebrated this event with the rite of rededication at the end of the regular worship service and followed it with our annual Oktoberfest fellowship event! Please see the example photos. Rejoice with us on God’s loving and gracious goodness!

HELPING TO FEED THE HUNGRY The Social Ministry Committee has decided to provide members and friends of Zion with the opportunity to help feed the hungry of New Orleans. A special receptacle is located in the Cry Room on your left as you enter the church. We will deliver these items to the local Food Bank (Second Harvesters) which will be available for those in temporary, emergency need. All items are to be Non-Perishable Food: We ask that you place your gifts in plastic or paper bags and drop them off in the plastic box in the Cry Room whenever you wish. This will be an on-going ministry of Zion.
